Comparison

Compare golf bags without chasing a score

A useful comparison is a short table of facts attached to exact models, plus a list of personal checks the table cannot settle. Avoid collapsing every detail into a single score: a low empty weight, a 14-way top and more pockets solve different problems.

First compare use modes

Mark which exact bags document carry straps, a stand system, a cart strap channel or a cart-first base. A channel is not a cart fit guarantee. If you carry and use a cart, make sure both capabilities appear on the same product configuration and verify the cart setup physically.

Then compare the numbers that matter to you

Write down top-divider count, published empty weight, pocket count and listed pocket volume. Keep units and model suffixes beside the numbers. For example, in the current PING pages reviewed here, Hoofer Lite is listed as four-way and 5 lb, standard Hoofer as five-way and 5.5 lb, and Hoofer 14 as 14-way and 5.9 lb. Those are source specifications; they do not predict loaded carry feel, club fit or pocket convenience.

Keep materials and weather evidence separate

Record the actual listed material and any explicit rain rating. A rain-hood pocket and a waterproof bag are not the same claim. Confirm whether a cover is supplied and note what's still unknown instead of copying an attribute from another model in the same family.

Finish with personal tests and seller checks

Try your clubs in the top, adjust the straps under a realistic load and test the cart channel on your own cart. Check exact finish, SKU, accessories, return terms and current instructions. If the candidate is a special or limited edition, verify its model identity rather than assuming it shares every spec with a stock color.

The comparison tool on this site presents documented fields only. A blank or “not confirmed” value is not a negative specification; it is a reason to check the source or seller rather than assume.
